NBC, Thursday, 8 p.m.
A co-production of NBC and Britain’s Sky TV, You, Me and the Apocalypse mines comedy from the last four weeks before a comet strikes the Earth and kills all life. That it works is rather impressive, and it’s all in Iain Hollands’s writing. The plotting is full of insane and often hilarious twists, but the characters are so finely realized and so original, you’ll go anywhere with them. His strangely connected ensemble of characters cross two continents: Rob Lowe is Father Jude, tasked by the Vatican to find the Anti-Christ; and Mathew Baynton plays both Jamie Winton and his estranged twin Ariel Conroy, the former being a milquetoast bank manager in Slough, England, and the latter an international cyber terrorist.
