Scott Peters releases new TV ad: ‘What’s Right’ (VIDEO)

The Scott Peters for Congress Campaign has released a new TV ad that will air throughout California’s 52nd Congressional District on network and cable television as well as online.

The ad, titled “What’s Right” points out  that Peters’ opponent, Carl DeMaio has received millions in taxpayer-funded government contracts yet refused to cut his own Council pay.

“Actions speak louder than words,” the ad’s narrator begins. “Carl DeMaio made millions from taxpayer-funded government contracts. Yet during the recession, DeMaio refused to reduce his pay and gave his staff raises.”

The narrator continues: “For Scott Peters, it’s about doing what’s right. As DeMaio’s Tea Party allies shut down the government, Peters blocked Congressional pay raises, helped pass the ‘No Budget, No Pay’ act and donated his pay to help military families.”

Alex Roth, communications director for the Peters campaign, said the ad points out the basic hypocrisy underlying the DeMaio campaign.

“Carl DeMaio loves to talk about cracking down on perks, but the truth is he’s a multi-millionaire who made millions off taxpayer-funded contracts, and then refused to cut his own pay while he was demanding cuts to public-safety services,” Roth said.

“DeMaio also infamously boasted in the press about the BMW he bought with the money he made off the taxpayers,” Roth added. “The hypocrisy is staggering.”
