Being Alive launches the ‘Ribbons of Hope’ campaign

The Ribbons of Hope campaign, presented by Revivals, is a means to keep Being Alive’s services available to clients and provide them with hope. It will run from Nov. 1 to Jan. 1, 2014.  Being Alive have also signed up with 30 local businesses that will be selling the Ribbons of Hope. They are looking for more businesses to participate, contact Terry Summers at 619-291-1400 x313.

Being Alive San Diego provides their clients with hope when they come to Daniel’s Pantry and get food for the month.  Being Alive provide hope when they arrive and speak to a peer advocate to get help with basic services, referrals to doctors and prescription drug services.

In a statement Being Alive said, “We at Being Alive hope that we can serve the rising number of clients that come in each day even though funding for HIV/AIDS support services has been cut across the board.  In 2011 we have seen a 33 percent increase in clients seeking services.”

Shannon Wagner, executive director at Being Alive said, “AIDS is not a chronic disease for us to manage.  It remains a fight for dignity and for basic human rights: shelter, health care and the pursuit of a better life.  We must fight on and renew our promise to do more.”

Ribbons of Hope will work this way.  There are 42 different places from coffee shops, restaurants and retail stores that will ask their customers to make a $1 or $5 donation to Being Alive.  There are two different sizes of ribbons.  Customers will be encouraged to write on the ribbon messages of remembrance and hope and the business will display them the month of November and December.  For a complete list of participating businesses check out  Being Alive San Diego’s Facebook page
