This world premiere drama set in 1889 Cuba, introduces a family coping with the changing landscape of their country as it struggles for independence. Melinda Lopez’s knack for dialogue and drama, mixed with her knowledge and research of the time, opens the door for issues of loyalty and family, fighting for a cause and finding happiness to be interwoven through this powerful and often humorous drama.

Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. They get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does. Corie wants staid Paul to be a little more spontaneous and running “barefoot in the park” would be a start.

The Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market 5th Anniversary Feast of Flavors
Top chefs from Little Italy will create signature dishes in celebration of the Mercato’s five year anniversary. A selection of Little Italy’s favorite chefs, including Chef Fabrizio Cavallini of Monello, Chef Thomas Depew of The Glass Door and Christopher Vera-Tudela of Davanti Enoteca will be presenting dishes inspired by the Mercato for attendees to enjoy. A portion of event proceeds will be going to support the new community garden at Little Italy’s Washington Elementary School.

Pop music royalty, passionate philanthropist and super mom, Cyndi Lauper kicks off her She’s So Unusual tour at Humphreys to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her groundbreaking debut album. Lauper will perform the record-setting album in its entirety. Recorded and released in 1983, She’s So Unusual, is a colorful portrait of a unique and multifaceted talent. The album features some of Lauper’s most well-known songs and perennial radio favorites including “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” “She Bop,” “Money Changes Everything,” and “All Through the Night.”
