The Gay Latino Arts Initiative has announced that the opening reception for the exhibit Imagine the Angels of Bread Part 1 by Leo Herrera will take place Dec. 12 at the Museum of Photographic Arts, 1649 El Prado in San Diego starting a 6:30 p.m.
Imagine the Angels of Bread Part 1 is a visual exploration of gay Latino men’s past and present while imagining a future where gay Latino men thrive. These original pieces will explore themes such as transformation, HIV, labor, sexuality, faith, borders, and racism in the lives of gay Latino men. Imagine the Angels of Bread Part 1 is about bringing communities together, providing space to enjoy the shared human experiences that connect us, and helping expand our minds and hearts to be more compassionate and understanding.
Leo Herrera is a rising star in the visual arts world who has had his work displayed across the country. As a proud gay Latino immigrant man, Herrera brings the richness of his identity to bear on all of his artwork.
Tickets for the exhibit are $25 and include a glass of wine. Space is limited so early purchase is recommended.
