San Diego’s tents: A safe harbor from the storm of homelessness?

SAN DIEGO, Calif., — Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) will welcome a panel of respected San Diego homeless advocates and business leaders as they discuss what is being done to address the immediate needs of the homeless population as well as concerns of the affected community.

Speakers include:
Dan Shea – National Restauranteur, San Diego Homeless Tents Co-Funder

Dora McCann Guerreiro – Executive Director, East Village Association

Rick Schnell – Retired SDPD Sergeant and Founder of the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT)

Karen Standard – Peer Support Specialist, Family Health Centers of San Diego

ABC 10News Co-Anchor Steve Atkinson will emcee the event held on Friday, November 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Logan Heights Family Health Center located at 1809 National Avenue.

Tickets to attend the luncheon are $25 and available for purchase at www.fhcsd.org/spirit-of-the-barrio.

Since 1986, this unique luncheon has provided a platform to discuss currents events, offered networking opportunities to guests and raised financial support for FHCSD’s mission to provide high-quality health care for underserved communities. About 400 guests attend each luncheon quarterly.
