United Intersections of Justice rally to be held Sunday in Hillcrest

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego LGBT Community Center, San Diego LGBT Pride and other social justice partners invite the community to come together Sunday, Aug. 20 from 4-5 p.m. for a United Intersections of Justice Rally Against Hate (Against Anti-Semitism. Against Racism, Against Homophobia; Against Transphobia; Against Islamaphobia; Against Sexism) at the Hillcrest Pride Flag on Normal Street.

The purpose of the rally is to gather in community in response to the wave of white supremacist, neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic and anti-LGBT statements occurring nationally, post Charlottesville. This non-violent Rally Against Hate is planned to be equal parts solidarity and action, offering a visible demonstration of intersectional movements and leaders standing against violence and hate and the rhetoric that fuels both.

At the rally, participants will be invited to stand in community united against hate, and hear from inspiring leaders who will share calls to action. After a brief program, community members will be invited to take action and visit tables of local community organizations to learn about their work, to get involved, to register to vote, to learn how to host “Stay woke” house parties, to call on and communicate with elected officials locally and nationally, plus more.

The community is invited to stand together to say “Come for any of us – black, brown, women, Jewish, Trans, LGB – and you will be met by all of us. United. Together.”
