SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The 10th annual Bike the Bay – the only bicycling event across the iconic San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge – will bring thousands of people on pedals out Aug. 27 for breathtaking waterfront views followed by the best bike party in the county.

This casual bike ride tours 25 miles of the Bayshore Bikeway, passing through the cities of Coronado, San Diego, National City, Imperial Beach and Chula Vista. Proceeds from Bike the Bay benefit the San Diego County Bike Coalition, the only organization protecting and advocating for the rights of all people on bikes countywide.
Bike the Bay presents an opportunity for people of all ages and bicycling levels to see five San Diego neighborhoods outside of the car while encouraging biking as a fun and efficient alternative to automobiles.

Andy Hanshaw, executive director of the Bike Coalition, says he started the ride ten years ago to showcase the region’s most beautiful views and pedal over one of its most iconic landmarks. “Now, this ride has earned a spot as a regional summer bucket list item, all for a cause that goes back into the community,” says Hanshaw.
