A 23-year-old man has testified an acquaintance kidnapped him in Escondido and forced him into performing oral sex in a motel room.
The victim was the sole witness in the preliminary hearing of a parolee, Antoine Demond Henderson, 44, who was ordered to stand trial on all charges May 10.
Vista Superior Court Judge K. Michael Kirkman set a trial date for Sept. 12. Henderson pleaded not guilty and remains in jail on $1 million bail.
Henderson is also charged with sexual penetration with an object, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed firearm which he was not allowed to possess because he is a convicted felon.
Deputy District Attorney Kate Flaherty said the victim was credible and did a good job in his testimony.
The most serious charge is one kidnapping count. It alleges Henderson kidnapped the victim in order to commit a sex crime and that carries a life sentence should he be convicted.
The incident took place Oct. 19, 2016, and Henderson allegedly took the victim to the Ramada Inn in Carlsbad where he was sexually assaulted in a room.
Henderson left at some point and the victim called 911 with Henderson’s description. Carlsbad Police arrested him in a vehicle after they pulled him over on Interstate 5.
Henderson was convicted of drug charges in 2001 and 1997 and making a criminal threat in 2006. He remains in the George Bailey Detention Facility.
