Monday on Vice News Tonight, correspondent Michael Moynihan traveled to California where there are 17 ballot initiatives before voters. One of them, Proposition 60, is an attempt to regulate one of the state’s multi-billion dollar industries: porn. Prop 60 mandates the use of condoms on any porn shot in the state of California and makes porn producers financially liable if they violate the mandate. Watch the full segment above.
While in California, Moynihan met John Stagliano, the owner of one of America’s most successful porn studios and a vigorous opponent of Prop. 60. Moynihan also sat down with Rick Taylor, the Californian political operative running the Prop. 60 campaign. With the campaign putting HIV positive performers front and center, the measure is leading in the polls. But it’s not as black and white as it might seem.
