New book empowers children to embrace their differences

Its OKMANSFIELD, Texas There’s no way to sugarcoat it; societal discord has hit breaking point in modern America, and diversity has – ironically – divided the nation. It’s a dangerous and destructive influence on young children, leading author Dr. Vanessa P Girard to hand them the perfect antidote.

‘It’s Okay to be Me!’ is a children’s story and picture book unlike anything else on the market. The volume’s progressive narrative is a clarion call for young readers to accept themselves and thrive with gusto, while also understanding that each individual’s differences are what make them truly beautiful and special.

Synopsis:

All people need to feel special, unique, and valued. This book is an attempt to validate individuals of all ages, races, creeds, and gender! It is a personal tribute to self, an authentication of being. It is okay to be you and me!

“Just look at the current climate in the U.S. right now, particularly surrounding the fierce election battle – we’re openly sending a message that being different is negative, and that these differences should be frowned upon. This is an arrogant, short-sighted view that is setting us back decades!” explains the author. “If children take these remarks to heart, our rampant discord can only get worse. I want to reverse the trend by empowering children to value their inner self, each other, and the beauty that can stem from being different.”

Continuing, “Because, let’s face it – if we were all the same, the world would be a desensitized ball of existence. We’d live like robots, confused as to what sets us apart, or worse, content to be without individuality! I hope children find my book fun, insightful and encouraging, and will keep it in mind as they grow, because no one is immune to that life altering phase where we wonder who we are, whether we fit in, and where do we belong.”
