Former Compton school board member gets six years prison for unconscious oral sex

Skyy DeAnthony Fisher

A former Compton school board member who was convicted of oral copulation upon a sleeping straight man was sentenced July 14 to six years in state prison.

Probation was denied to Skyy DeAnthony Fisher, 33, by San Diego Superior Court Judge Runston Maino, who said the emotional injuries to the 25-year-old victim were “profound.”

Fisher will have to register as a sex offender for life after he is paroled. Maino gave him credit for already serving 341 days in jail.

Fisher, who previously claimed to be straight now, says he is gay, according to his new attorney, Luis Guerrero. The explanation came as too little, too late, for the judge.

Maino noted the testimony of Steven who asked Fisher if he was gay before a night of drinking and Fisher denied it, saying he was straight. Maino said Fisher violated a position of trust to engage in oral sex while Steven was asleep and vulnerable in a San Diego hotel room.

Fisher was an elected member of the Compton school board and thus a public official who committed a sex crime. Fisher lost re-election in November 2015 while awaiting trial.

The probation department recommended six years in prison while Deputy District Attorney Lisa Fox asked for eight years.

Maino noted the victim called 911 after leaving the motel room and was heard sobbing to a police dispatcher. The victim underwent a full rape examination that included oral and anal swabs that were taken. DNA evidence from saliva was linked to Fisher.

Steven didn’t appear in court for the sentencing, but sent a letter to the judge which called Fisher “a predator” who caused him to “put my manhood on the line.”

“You were supposed to be a friend. You took advantage of our friendship,” wrote Steven.

A jury convicted Fisher Jan. 28 after only 45 minutes of deliberations. He fired his trial attorney Maryetta Marks and hired Guerrero who argued unsuccessfully for a new trial by saying Marks didn’t provide an adequate defense.

Through Guerrero, Fisher abandoned his previous defense that he was straight and Guerrero said Fisher is in fact gay and only came to that realization while in jail.

“Mr. Fisher has since come out and it lifted a heavy burden from his shoulders,” said Guerrero, who added that acknowledging homosexuality “is a big thing in the black community.”

While Fisher was in office, he became controversial through a series of offensive comments including using the word “faggot” for a slain black teenager, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Maino ordered Fisher to pay $1,300 in counseling for the victim who is a college student.

  1. So, Brock Turner gets 90 days n probation for raping an unconscious woman behind a trash dumpster and this brother Skyy Fisher gets 6 years prison time for giving Head to a sleeping Straight guy in his hotel room???
Oh forgot that Brock Turner is White and Skyy Fisher is Black.
NOW, it makes all the sense to me.

  2. But Brock get 3 months because it would be to devastating for him to go to prison after he rapes an unconcious woman. Look at these two cases and tell me Justice in America is blind? They are both wrong as 2 left shoes but I guess punishment is only for Just-Us.
