SAN DIEGO – The 32nd Annual Mission Federal ArtWalk will return to San Diego’s Little Italy on Saturday, April 30, 2016 to Sunday, May 1. The weekend-long event is recognized as San Diego’s premier arts and cultural event and the largest fine art festival in Southern California. Over 350 local, national and international artists will showcase every medium, including painting, sculpture, glass work, photography, fine jewelry and more within a 15 block radius of Downtown San Diego. New this year, will be the live visual art performance pieces incorporated into the entertainment lineup, featuring Stephen Fishwick, Sarah Stieber and other artists.
“Each year we strive to produce an art festival that encompasses all areas of the arts to bring a full interactive experience to attendees who come out to Mission Federal ArtWalk. New and established collectors will have the opportunity to meet more than 350 fine artists and learn what inspires their work,” explains Sandi Cottrell, ArtWalk San Diego’s managing director. “We work closely with our sponsors, featured artists and entertainment along with the community and local non-profit organizations to bring a spectacular art experience to San Diego for art lovers, families, visitors and San Diegans alike.
The free family-friendly event will not only include art, but also live musical performances, street food, interactive art activities and KidsWalk—offering a wide range of creative projects. This year’s interactive art activity incorporates paint and paper in a unique marbling project sponsored by Artist & Craftsman Supply and San Diego Visual Arts Network. Returning this year will be the memorable performances by dance troupes on the “Dance on the EDGE” stage.
This yearly art festival is brought to San Diego by the same team that brings ArtWalk NTC to Liberty Station in August. Mission Federal ArtWalk attracts over 100,000 art aficionados and visitors from all over to Downtown Little Italy to purchase art from established and emerging artists during the two-day festival.
“For 31 years, Mission Federal ArtWalk has been attracting visitors as well as artists from all around the world, helping mark San Diego’s Little Italy a top spring travel destination,” said Cottrell. “Visitors love coming here because they know they will be able to browse for works of art from a variety of artists, all in one central location, and it’s a free event!”
Mission Federal ArtWalk will be located in between Ash and Grape Street in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. Attendance is free. More information on Mission Federal ArtWalk will be released in the coming weeks. For any additional details on San Diego’s ArtWalk and its programs visit www.artwalksandiego.org.
