In January, Jackie Biskupski will become the first openly gay mayor of a major Utah city.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the official canvass was approved by the Salt Lake City Council shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday — two weeks after Election Day.
The official vote count had Biskupski beating Mayor Ralph Becker 51.5 percent to 48.5 percent. Of the 38,598 ballots, Biskupski received 19,896 to Becker’s 18,702. That’s a 3 percentage-point difference.
Congratulations to Jackie Biskupski.
