The Board of San Diego Democrats for Equality recommended the endorsement of eight incumbents for re-election at last week’s Club meeting. While there was vigorous debate on several races, the Club endorsed six of the eight by wide margins (60 percent of attending members is the minimum required). The Club did not decide against endorsement of the other two candidates, Assembly member Lorena Gonzales and SDUSD Board President Marne Foster. Rather, Club members felt there were issues that needed further discussion before an endorsement would be considered. Following instructions from Club members, both candidates have been invited to address the Club at the Sept. 24 meeting.
