The man found with Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter Chelsea has been charged with endangerment of a child and public communication of obscenity.
Steven Sheerer, 25, was taken from his Village Drive home in Barnegat, New Jersey, Friday and charged, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato announced.
Chelsea O’Donnell went missing on Aug. 11 and was found by police on Tuesday. O’Donnell had reached out on Twitter asking for help in finding her daughter.
According to the Huffington Post, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said that after searching the teenager’s phone, police found “evidence of inappropriate communications over the last several weeks” between Chelsea O’Donnell and Sheerer. The statement also notes that Sheerer could face up to ten years in prison for the charges.
“[Sheerer] was involved with a minor, and Rosie’s concern has been and always will be the health, safety and well-being of her daughter,” Rosie O’Donnell’s publicist told The Associated Press in a statement. “Rosie is profoundly appreciative for the work the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has done and the diligence of the local police.”
