Today, Logo announced the television premiere of Out & Around, a documentary that follows couple Jennifer Chang & Lisa Dazols’ 342 day global journey with unprecedented interviews and profiles of LGBT leaders from more than a dozen countries. Logo will premiere the film, in association with the It Gets Better Project, on Logo on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015 at 9 P.M. ET/CT.
Out & Around captures the momentous changes occurring for LGBT people in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nepal, Philippines, and Taiwan. Actress Abbie Cornish (“Limitless,” “Robocop,” “Bright Star”) narrates the film, which features music from Mary Lambert and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tegan & Sara, Moby, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Cayucas, Gotan Project, Brendan Losch, The High Wire, Breakfast in Fur, and Swimming in Speakers.
“The stories that Jenni and Lisa captured are a beautiful and artful look at the common humanity that transcends borders and unites us all,” said Pamela Post, head of Logo Original Programming. “Logo is proud to collaborate with talented filmmakers and organizations like the It Gets Better Project to share the stories of people working so bravely to create a more open and accepting world.”
When Jenni and Lisa first fell in love, they vowed to follow a life of adventure. The result, “Out and Around,” is a universal story of hope that combines video-journal footage, interviews with global LGBT leaders, and the couple’s own love story.
“This film not only tells about the changes happening in this historical time, but the changes that happened in my own family as I came out,” said Executive Producer Jenni Chang. “I wanted to travel and connect with other people of color like myself. I discovered my new global family.”
“We’re excited to once again partner with Logo to reach LGBT youth with a message of hope.” said Brett Peters, Communications Director for the It Gets Better Project. “By watching Jenni and Lisa’s tremendous journey, we are able to see the potential for our own adventures in a quest to be our authentic selves.”
Logo Documentary Films division shares powerful stories that capture LGBT life and culture in all its diversity. The division launched earlier this year with the critically-acclaimed films “Out in the Night” and “Matt Shepard is a Friend of Mine.”
Jennifer Chang and Lisa Dazols are Executive Producers of “Out and Around.” Lauren Fash and Ryan Suffern are the film’s co-directors. Susan Graham, Megan Oliveira and Brett Peters serve as Producers.
