Representatives of the San Diego Unified Board of Education have announced plans to vote on an anti-bullying policy at a meeting set for April 12, 2011.
The proposed measure, developed with input from the Safe Schools Task Force, is called the Bullying, Harassment and Intimidation Prohibition Policy and is designed to create a safer learning environment for students and staff by establishing zero tolerance for bullying and discriminatory behavior.
In addition to enacting policies designed to prevent bullying and take disciplinary action in situations where bullying takes place, the Bullying, Harassment and Intimidation Prohibition Policy would also implement safeguards for students who are experiencing discrimination and is expressly designed to address issues of lesbian, gay, bisexual and questioning students facing hurtful and dangerous behavior due to bullying
