Indiana Senate approves gay marriage ban

INDIANA – The Indiana Senate has approved legislation to change the state constitution to ban gay marriage and same-sex civil unions. The vote was 40-10.

Now the bill must pass again in the session slated for 2012 or 2014, with a separately elected legislature. If the bill passes again, voters would make the final decision in 2014. Indiana already has a law banning gay marriage and civil unions.
