SAN DIEGO – United States Police & Fire Championships (USPFC) announced today they have partnered with San Diego Pride to offer 5 – $100 OUT & Proud Athlete Scholarships.
USPFC embodies the strongly held American value of honoring the full diversity of this country and our collective work toward liberty and justice for all.
USPFC was approached by San Diego Pride some time ago about the feasibility of offering an Athlete Scholarship to a current competitor who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, helping to cover up to $100 in registration and sports fees.
The shared values of USPFC and San Diego Pride created a perfect opportunity to support our OUT & Proud LGBT first responders.
To qualify, athletes must meet all eligibility requirements for participation in The Championships, must be “out” in their department or agency, and actively engaged in Diversity Awareness and/or training the brings awareness and sensitivity to LGBT issues with law enforcement, firefighting, and first responder communities.

The United States Police & Fire Championships are scheduled for May 30 – June 6, 2015 in San Diego County.
San Diego LGBT Pride’s (www.sdpride.org) mission is to foster pride in and respect for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities, locally, nationally and globally.
