The 5th Annual Gaywise Festival (GFEST), held in London, England, announced the call for new entries this week. Interested participants may submit work in three different categories: short film, visual arts and performance. The 2011 cross-arts event is open to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer artists and will run November 7-20.
The festival is known for innovative displays of contemporary art and creative exhibition programming, and is a premier event for LGBT artists.
Niranjan Kamatkar, director of GFEST, explained that “GFEST 2011 offers excellent platform for LGBT films and art projects and presents an ideal opportunity for sponsors to show their commitment to LGBT equality in all walks of life.”
The festival is sponsored and supported by high profile organizations and personalities including Arts Council England, Prime Minister David Cameron, actor Stephen Fry, London Mayor Boris Johnson, the National Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
All entries may be submitted through the GFEST website. The submissions deadline is June 27, 2011.
