In its fifth and most ambitious event to date, youTurn Contemporary Arts Exhibition is bringing the internationally accomplished choreographer, teacher and performer Mark Haim to San Diego April 3 – April 11. Haim will present This Land Is Your Land, his most current work, which is critically acclaimed and has been performed in major cities around the world. More than 15 local San Diego artists are provided the unique opportunity to work with Mark Haim. For a cross-disciplinary and diverse cast of performers, the work touches upon pressing issues of contemporary life, including; consumerism, environmental abuse, body image and corporate power. The content of this work is politically savvy and meticulously timed. This Land Is Your Land was named one of the most influential works of the last 15 years by Monica Bill Barnes in Dance Magazine.
In keeping with its mission for a collaborative show, youTurn will also feature the live music of legendary blues singer Tomcat Courtney; visual artists, including Araceli Carrera, creating new works live while watching the dance performance; and the artisan dips and spreads of San Francisco’s Nut ‘n Bean.
