WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) today announced that U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) will be the featured speaker at the 2015 Los Angeles Gala Dinner this Saturday, March 14.
“Senator Franken is an unapologetic supporter of fairness and equality,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “A leader in the successful effort to repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ and the Senate author of the Student Non-Discrimination Act, Senator Franken is an important ally for LGBT Americans in the U.S. Senate. We are honored he is joining us to speak at our 2015 Los Angeles Gala Dinner.”
Sen. Franken has scored a perfect 100% on every HRC Congressional Scorecard since his election to the U.S. Senate in the 111th Congress.
As previously announced, HBO President of Programming Michael Lombardo will be recognized with this year’s HRC Visibility Award, and Golden Globe winner Shonda Rhimes will be honored with this year’s HRC Ally for Equality Award.
The HRC Los Angeles Gala Dinner, which is expected to draw over 1,000 guests, will be held this Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the JW Marriott LA Live with receptions starting at 5:00 PM. Tickets and further information are available at http://www.hrcladinner.com/
