Vote for the first same-sex couple finalists in national wedding competition

Jaimee and Caitlin from Asbury Park, N.J. are the first same-sex couple to make finalists for The Knot’s Dream Wedding, and voting is happening now! The Knot has quickly become the No. 1 wedding Web site and America’s leading wedding brand reaching out to millions of engaged couples each year.

Out of 1,400 couple applicants Jaimee and Caitlin are one of  six remaining. They initially applied thinking it’d be fun to win a dream wedding  and it has turned into potentially being in the spotlight as a face for same-sex marriages as the country is at a pivotal point in the decision for legalizing “gay marriage.”

Jaimee & Caitlin

Jaimee and Caitlin describe themselves as proud romantics from Asbury:

“We first met in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, but didn’t see each other again for months. Before we even had our first date, Cait texted that she thought we would become “best friends…the kind of best friends that get married.” Less than three months later, we drove cross country together from Philadelphia to San Diego. Everyone we knew thought that we were insane as we barely knew each other! It was truly the trip of a lifetime. While we have many gay and lesbian friends, we don’t know many who have gotten married. We think The Knot Dream Wedding would show people just how meaningful the celebration of a wedding is to same-sex couples.”

There are only a few days left for voting so time is limited, but they are still trying to get their story to reach as many supporters as possible. More information about Jaimee and Caitlin can be found on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/caitlinandjaimee.

Voting is going on through Saturday, Feb. 14.
