Before Breaking Bad finished its much (and perhaps overly) praised run, AMC announced that they would be a producing a prequel series about meth dealer Walter White’s lawyer Saul Goodman. Saul is one of the few characters from Breaking Bad who was always funny, though there was a deep pathos underneath the humor. The brilliant, always somewhat disheveled Bob Odenkirk plays Saul, who in the new show has discovered that the only way he can make a living as a lawyer is by serving the lowest of the low and by breaking the law. Early reviews of the show have been mostly stellar, and even though I wasn’t a fan of relentlessly cruel Breaking Bad, I’m going to tune in.
