Life Partners
The delightful romantic comedy Life Partners explores the universal themes of female friendship and sexuality in all of its absurd amazingness. Straight Paige (Gillian Jacobs, Community ) and lesbian Sasha (Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl ) are co-dependent best friends in their late 20s. They text each other all day, talk every evening, and have a weekly date to watch Top Model. Both date now and then, with little luck, until Paige meets nerdy Tim (Adam Brody). Despite some superficial drawbacks he’s kind of cute. As Paige and Tim’s relationship grows, the bond between Paige and Sasha inevitably shifts. Suddenly without a “partner,” Sasha is left to examine her own shortcomings and panic about her impending 30th birthday. Passive-aggressive conflict brews in their friendship until the girls must finally confront the question they’ve been avoiding: Can their friendship survive growing up?

Universal Intelligence
Artist Gary Walker prefers the supreme challenge of the abstract painting that expresses and explores the deeper aspects of both individual and archetypal subconscious elements. His singular style and expression are wholly unique, original and eclectic. In this exhibition, Gary Walker presents Universal Intelligence – the Abwoon Series. Abwoon is a word that comes from the ancient Aramaic language of the Middle Eastern part of the world. It is a universal and all encompassing term that refers to God as the One: the Universal, the Radiant One who shines, the Divine Source, the Father-Mother of the Universe.

American Visions: Place and Identity
This selection of highlights from The San Diego Museum of Art’s Permanent Collection reveals a gradual movement away from European traditions in painting toward the formulation of a uniquely American art, redefining man’s relationship to his surroundings. Beginning with 19th century landscapes depicting the country’s vast untamed wilderness in which nature is all powerful and the vulnerability of the human presence is made apparent, the exhibition closes with Christo’s drawing for his project Running Fence 1976, in which a colossal curtain dissects the California landscape, asserting a new relationship to, and intervention with, our environment.
