The North County LGBTQ Resource Center will celebrate its seventh Pride By The Beach event Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year for the first time Pride By The Beach will be held in downtown of Oceanside by the Civic Center and Pier View way. The event is free for everyone to attend, and family and pets are welcome. The open venue will offer food, entertainment and a kids area. The City of Oceanside is promoting the event and many other non-profit and for profit organizations will also exhibit within Pride. The list of entertainment will features Candye Kane, Mike Munich –past performers with Lady Gaga- The Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadow Troop and a full hour of drag show.
The event will be opened by the San Diego Pride Public Affair Director Fernando Lopez, and emceed by the local artist Laura Jane. Many of the downtown Oceanside businesses have agreed to show their support by sporting a rainbow flag outside their store in support of the Pride Celebrations. Wednesday Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. the mayor of the City of Oceanside will read the City proclamation that welcomes the opening of the Pride celebrations and invites all San Diego County citizens to participate.
