Scott Peters

SAN DIEGO – Today, the Peters for Congress campaign announced that it has raised more than $455,000 in the first fundraising quarter of 2014, bringing his total campaign receipts over $1.8 million with more than $1.48 million cash on hand. This war chest puts Peters in strong position entering the second quarter of this year.

“I am extremely encouraged by the outpouring of support for my work serving residents all across California’s 52nd Congressional District, who I am honored to represent day in and day out,” said Peters. “Together, we will continue working to fix a broken Congress, stop the hyper-partisanship, and make government work better for small businesses, workers, families, and students.”
Notably, 88% of donors to the Peters campaign contributed online in the first quarter, with 82% of donors contributing $100 or less.
Q1 reports are due to be filed with the Federal Election Commission by April 15, 2014.
Since being sworn into Congress, Congressman Peters has helped pass the “No Budget, No Pay” law, guided the creation of the Military Transition Support Project, and helped keep student loan rates low. Peters has worked with both Republicans and Democrats to achieve solutions, and was named one of the most independent members of Congress by National Journal.
Peters has recently received a variety of high-profile endorsements, including the League of Conservation Voters for his work protecting the environment and combating climate change, and the Human Rights Campaign for his support of marriage equality and full LGBT civil rights.
Scott Peters was elected twice to San Diego’s first council district – contained within the 52nd district – serving as the city’s first council president and later as Chair of the San Diego Unified Port District. He was elected to the 52nd District in 2012, defeating incumbent Brian Bilbray.
