SAN DIEGO – In support of its 40th anniversary, The San Diego LGBT Community Center has launched its #GivingTogether campaign.
“For four decades, The Center has stood as a beacon of hope for LGBT San Diegans, and for others across the nation,” said Dr. Delores A. Jacobs, The Center’s chief executive officer. “Today, we continue to fulfill our dual mission to serve those most vulnerable in our community and to fight for full equality. We remain grateful for the generous investments that have been made in The Center over the past 40 years that have made this work possible, and for those gifts that are being made now in honor of our 40th anniversary.”
Participants in the #GivingTogether campaign can showcase their support of The Center via social media by making a donation and then posting a photo that states the reason for their contribution.
“There are so many reasons people are proud to support The Center,” said Brandon Shawn Tate, director of development for The Center. “This campaign gives people an opportunity to share the reasons for their commitment, and to encourage others to donate as well.”
To participate in the #GivingTogether campaign, follow these simple steps:
- Make a donation at http://events.thecentersd.org/GivingTogether.
- Have a photo taken of yourself holding a sign that states your personal reason for your gift in the form of “#GivingTogether means…” (i.e., #GivingTogether means supporting LGBT youth; #GivingTogether means 40 years together; #GivingTogether means a Center for all of us, etc.)
- Post your photo to Facebook, tagging @The San Diego LGBT Community Center and using the #GivingTogether hashtag
- Or post your photo to Twitter or Instagram, tagging @LGBTCenter and using the #GivingTogether hashtag.
