Former Marine Captain Jacquelyn R. Atkinson and City Commissioner Nicole Murray Ramirez have been elected co-chairs of the first LGBT Advisory Board to the Sheriff of San Diego County, Bill Gore.
The Advisory Board held its first meeting with Sheriff Gore and his top commanders a few weeks ago. Former Marine Captain Jacquelyn R. Atkinson is a Bronze Star honoree, served in Iraq and is currently on the executive board of the Log Cabin Republican Club. City Commissioner Nicole Murray Ramirez, who has served the last six Mayors of San Diego, has served as chair of the first LGBT Advisory Boards to the mayor, police chief, and now the sheriff.
The Sheriff’s new Advisory Board also includes the following members:

Max Disposti – Executive Director, North County LGBT Center
Joyce Rowland – State Board Of Directors, Equality California
Stephen Whitburn – Executive Director, San Diego GLBT Pride and past President of San Diego Democrats For Equality.
Susan Jester – Founder, San Diego AIDS Walk, President of the Log Cabins Republicans.
Dan Koeshall – Pastor, Metropolitan Community Church
Atty. Bruce Abrams – County Commissioner and past Chair, Human Relations Commission
Carolina Ramos – Senior Staff, LGBT Community Center
Mike Phillips – Owner, Harvey Milk All American Diner and Board Member of the GLBT Historic Task Force
Stampp Corbin – Chair, Equal Opportunity Commission
Thomas Luhnow – past Executive Director, Greater San Diego Business Association
