Two hundred years from now, the survivors of humanity all live in a domed city and their lives are totally controlled by a computer that, among other unsavory things, kills every person when he or she becomes 30, though they think being vaporized means they are actually about to be reborn.

Some people have figured out this trick, and they have become runners. Logan (Michael York) is a Sandman, who is tasked with catching and killing them. Then he figures out what is actually going on and becomes a runner himself, accompanied by, of course, a pretty and mostly characterless woman named Jessica (Jenny Agutter).

Despite the creaky (but Oscar winning) special effects and somewhat obvious themes, the movie is great, pulpy fun, a touchstone of ‘70s pop culture. Farrah Fawcett has a supporting role.
