The Board of Governors of the Nicky Awards have announced the recipients of the Aug. 25 event’s highest honors. Popular T.V. and movie star Wilson Cruz and national gay and lesbian Task Force (N.G.L.T.F.) Deputy Director Russell Roybal as well as the local chapter of Gay for Good will be receiving the Harvey Milk Award which was first presented in 1979.
Well-known journalist Bixi Craig will be the recipient of this year’s “Michael Portantino Media Award which will be presented by the late publisher’s daughter, Tatiana, and brother, State Assemblyman Anthony Portantino.
Police Chief William Lansdowne and Sheriff Bill Gore will be presenting the annual “Mayor George Moscone Memorial Award” to District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis.
The 2013 Nicky Awards will be held Aug. 25 at the Marriott Mission Valley, 8757 Rio San Diego Drive in San Diego.
