Despite besmirching the Shijonawate Fire Department reputation, two young Japanese firefighters, both 20, were suspended for six months after it was discovered they appeared in adult films, reports the TokyoReporter.com. According to the story, the pair were approached by an adult video scout on a beach in the Suma Ward of Kobe. After being complimented on their trim bodies, the firemen starred in a porn film that same day, with each being paid a fee of 10,000 yen. “Quite simply, this is prohibited behavior,” said Mayor Kazunori Doi. “I want to work to restore the people’s confidence in all staff members of the municipal government.”
As is often customary in Japanese gay adult films, the two were promised that their faces would be obscured. Trusting this was to be the case, the two agreed to star in another picture. For their efforts, they were paid 10,000 yen ($103.65) for the first performance and 40,000 ($414.60) for their second. But after an anonymous email tipped off officials, a total of four men were suspended for six months for not only “disreputable” acts but for holding second jobs which is strictly forbidden. However, after complaining to the producers, their faces were eventually obscured.
This is not the first time professionals (or Japanese men) have had their gay porn pasts come back to haunt them. In December, 2003, Kazuhito Tadano, a 23-year-old right-handed pitcher for the Cleveland Indians came out to teammates, admitting that while attending college in Japan he appeared in a gay porn video. Tadano was the ace pitcher for his Rikkyou Daigaku University team, with a 92 mph fastball, good control and a nice slider. Tadano, who says he is straight, told teammates that he appeared in the video as a 19-year-old freshman because he needed money.
More recently, Kevin Hogan, an accomplished and respected teacher from the Boston area with twenty years of experience was put on paid administrative leave (and eventually fired) after it was discovered he appeared in a few gay porn films.
