OK, so you don’t really record Orange is the New Black, but watching it on instant Netflix is basically the same idea. However you describe it, you should be watching it. Based on Piper Kerman’s memoir of the same name, Orange is the story of a blonde yuppie who is sent to prison for money laundering almost 10 years after the crime. It’s a classic fish out of water story, but as produced by Jenji Kohan, who gave us Weeds, the show is a zippy blend of wacky comedy and moving character studies. Taylor Schilling is wonderful as Piper, but the brilliant ensemble includes Kate Mulgrew, Natasha Lyonne and Jason Biggs, who plays Piper’s fiancé.
