HRC announces partnership with PVBLIC Foundation

Steve Lee, Editor12 years ago04 mins

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), today announced a new media campaign being executed through an in-kind media grant from PVBLIC Foundation to raise visibility and awareness. PVBLIC Foundation’s mission is to connect change making non-profit organizations with granted media that will enable their campaigns to make a bigger impact through communications. HRC joins other worthy grantees including Rock the Vote and Pencils of Promise.

“The Human Rights Campaign continues to make history this year, and make LGBT equality a reality,” said Sergio Fernández de Córdova, chairman and co-founder of PVBLIC Foundation. “In support, PVBLIC has aggregated an unprecedented amount of media space for HRC. We at PVBLIC strongly support the notion that LGBT people in this country should be embraced and equal.”

Launching this week, HRC’s ad campaign will go up nationwide, and will run for at least two months, delivering up to 2,000,000 impressions daily. The campaign coincides with the anticipated marriage decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court this week.

In late March 2013, as the Court was hearing oral arguments, HRC shared a red version of its logo – selected because the color is synonymous with love – on Facebook and Twitter and asked supporters to change their profile photos to show their support. The campaign went viral, and celebrities such as George Takei, Beyonce, Martha Stewart and others helped draw attention to the movement. Millions of people shared the logo, countless memes were created in response, and Facebook saw a 120 percent increase in profile photo updates. The Internet was awash in red and displayed the growing support for marriage equality in the U.S. and the world. The campaign put the spotlight on HRC and spread awareness about the organization and its original blue and yellow logo.

PVBLIC  Foundation hopes to to capitalize on this campaign and take it to the next level.

“We could not be more grateful to PVBLIC Foundation, or more proud to be associated with them,” said Chris Speron, HRC’s Development Director. “We are looking forward to a long and impactful relationship with PVBLIC as we continue to change hearts and minds in every corner of the nation.”
