First French gay couple to marry

MONTPELLIER,  France – Wednesday, May 29, Vincent Autin and Bruno Boileau

from Montpellier will become the first gay couple to marry in France.

Vincent, 40 and Boileau, 30, met 7 years ago through their love of music. Both are fans of singer Christophe Willem and were members of an online fan forum. Three of the ten members of the fan club decided to meet in Paris, two of them happened to be Vincent and Boileau.

Vincent and Boileau hit it off right away. The third member of the fan club left them at the restaurant where they continued to talk. The next day, they met again, and their love for each other has been growing stronger ever since.

While France allows same-sex couples to protect their families through a civil union, Vincent and Boileau chose to wait until they could get married, because a civil union felt like a second class option. They wanted to marry and nothing less would do.

The couple hopes to eventually adopt children.

“All Out could not be happier for Vincent and Boileau,” Andre Banks executive director and co-founder of All Out, a global equal rights movement, celebrated. “More than 325,000 All Out members signed a petition urging the French government to pass this bill. The love between Vincent and Boileau is exactly why. Loving and committed gay and lesbian couples should be able to get married no matter who they are or where they live. We are so happy that France has made the world a freer and more beautiful place for gays and lesbians.”

All Out’s French senior campaign manager, Guillaume Bonnet who will attend their  wedding  said, “I am honored to attend Vincent and Boileau’s wedding, This is a historic day for my country and for All Out members. We have shown that if we all work together anything is possible. Now couples like Vincent and Boileau can create a life full of love and family just like any other loving and committed couple. We have a lot to celebrate!”
