San Diego City Council declares Thursday, April 25 ‘Dining Out For Life® Day’ in the City of San Diego

City Council proclaims Thursday, April 25, as “Dining Out for Life® San Diego Day” in the City of San Diego.

SAN DIEGO – At the Tuesday, April 23 meeting of the San Diego City Council, Council President Todd Gloria led the effort to proclaim Thursday, April 25, as “Dining Out for Life® San Diego Day” in the City of San Diego.

Citing Dining Out for Life® San Diego as “a major community event” and commending the event because it “raises HIV awareness, helps lessen the stigma associated with the illness and encourages people to get tested for HIV,” the City Council unanimously approved the proclamation.

The seventh annual Dining Out for Life® San Diego is set for this Thursday, April 25, and enjoys the support of not only the San Diego City Council, but also of the more than 100 local restaurants, bars and coffee shops that will be participating on April 25.

Participants can simply dine out for breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or cocktails and the Dining Out for Life restaurants will donate 25-100 percent of Thursday’s sales to benefit HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs at The San Diego LGBT Community Center.

“In a short time, Dining Out for Life® has become a true community event in San Diego,” said Ian Johnson, The Center’s Dining Out for Life® coordinator. “This is a win-win-win for San Diego – diners have a great time knowing they are making a difference, the restaurants benefit from increased traffic and ultimately, we raise much-needed funds for HIV services and programs.”

You can select from an incredibly diverse array of dining options to take part in Thursday’s event. The full listing is available at http://events.thecentersd.org/DOFL.
