Sell-out shows mark record weekend for Gay Men’s Chorus

SAN DIEGO – One of the hottest tickets in town this past weekend was for the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) show Rocket Man – The Music of Elton John.  Both record-setting shows sold out days before the concert, filling the Birch North Park Theatre with hundreds of fans to experience the music, dancing and staging of the SDGMC.

“We had an amazing Elton John show.  The crowd response was through the roof,” said Joe Gregore, membership director.  “We’re now incredibly excited to start on our next show and we’re looking for singers and volunteers to join us.”

Anyone interested in joining is invited to Info Night on Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m. at the University Christian Church at 3900 Cleveland Ave. in Hillcrest.  Pre-registration is requested by completing and submitting an application at sdgmc.org and clicking the “Join Us” link.  Actual auditions will be held at the church on Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m.

The SDGMC’s summer show is Feelin’ Groovy – Songs of the ‘60s from The Beatles to The Beach Boys, The Supremes to The Mamas & the Papas.  In December, it’s the hugely popular holiday show that promises lots of naughty and nice for everyone.  For more information or show tickets, contact sdgmc.org or call 877-296-7664.
