TENNESSEE – A lesbian couple in Tennessee have filed a lawsuit against their neighbor alleging he set their home on fire because they are gay.
Carol Ann and Laura Stutte are suing for trespass, intentional infliction of emotional distress and malicious harassment, according to WBIR.com.
They claim that the word “queers” was found spray-painted on the side of their garage after the fire.
The Stuttes moved into their house in June 2005 with their daughter. Since then, they say that they have faced constant harassment from their neighbor. The Stuttes claim that the neighbor had once told them, “The only thing better than one dead queer is two dead queers.”
The Stuttes put their house up for sale in August 2010, but it was burned down before it could sell.
