ROSEVILLE, Calif. (KTXL-CNN) — Love is love — that’s the message hundreds had for the Westfield Galleria at Roseville Saturday.
“It’s okay to be who you are!” one protestor said.
Exactly one week after Jose Guzman and Daniel Chesmore say they were asked to leave the Roseville Galleria for showing too much gay PDA, supporters stood outside the Galleria next to Starbucks, doing just that. The only difference is this time, the Galleria welcomed them.
“We are happy they are here. We want everyone to enjoy themselves here and feel comfortable,” says Stephanie Ringey, the Galleria spokesperson.
The peaceful protest formed early this week after FOX40 first broke this story. Supporters connected on Facebook, and more than 1,000 people RSVP’ed.
“We are here to support our fellow Americans,” one supporter said. “Everyone deserves to love who they want to love,” another told FOX40.
“Westfield has made efforts to correct the action,” said event organizer Beverly Kearney. “But, I hope that every person who has heard this story will stand up and fight for equality.”
After releasing four revised statements this week, the Galleria management office met with several LGBT community leaders.
“Our goal is to work with them,” Ringey told FOX40. “Right now, we’re reviewing everything, making sure our training is what it needs to be, adding to it if we need to.”
The mall would not say anything about whether the security guard, recorded by the gay couple, has received any disciplinary actions.
