The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) is back with its annual holiday show Saturday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. The show, Ice & Spice, will take place at the Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego.
“Our show promises the whimsical magic of traditional holiday songs accented with the spicy sounds of a tropical holiday getaway,” said SDGMC Artistic Director Gary Holt. “No one does the holidays like 130 gay men! There’s singing and dancing, fun and frolic, naughty and nice!”
Among the show’s many favorites are unique arrangements of “Winter Wonderland,” “Silent Night” and the tropical-tinged medley of “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,” “Jingle Bells,” “My Favorite Things” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”
The Chorus will also present the West Coast premiere of the newly commissioned “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” by renowned arranger Ken Clifton.
Tickets for the Saturday evening performance are $25-$43; tickets for the Sunday matinee are $21-$38.
A $5 discount is available for seniors, students, military and groups of 10 or more. The Balboa Theatre is located at 868 Fourth Ave. at E Street in San Diego. Three hours of free parking is available with validation at the adjacent Horton Plaza shopping center.
