PORT TOWNSEND, Wash. (CNN) – Jefferson County residents in Washington state will cast their ballots this year for the leaders of the “Untied” States.
According to the Peninsula Daily News, a typo on ballots that were sent to 22,596 voters caused federal candidates for office to be listed under the heading “President/Vice President of the Untied States.”
County Auditor Donna Elridge told the Daily News that the ballots had been proofread several times, “but somehow this one got through.”
Corrected ballots will not be mailed, as Elridge believes the typo will not affect the voting process.
“… as long as you have the first letters and the last letters spelled right, people know what you mean,” Eldrige told the Daily News.
A typo yes, but for goodness sakes–on an election ballot and part of our country’s name. Our schools only reinforce this, “oh well” attitude about presenting homework or important documents with misspelled words and grammatical errors. My children brought home papers they had turned in and received an A or B on that were chock full of errors.
What a shame! Get with it!
