Six Flags Magic Mountain’s annual “Out on the Mountain” (LGBT) Night returns in 2012 this Friday, September 21. Alexis Jordan, Shangela, DJ Ray Rhodes, Daniel Joseph Baker, Ingenue and DJ Steve Oaks star in a night of entertainment, as the entire the park “goes gay” for the night.
“Out on the Mountain” is the creation of Six Flags Magic Mountain and DJ Ray Rhodes, having started in 2008. More than 6,000 people are expected to attended this fifth annual Southern California gathering for thrill rides and a big “private gay party,” while raising funds for local LGBT charities and organizations. The entire park is closed to the general public for this private LGBT party from 6 p.m.-1 a.m.
According to organizers, attendees will have access to favorite attractions at the Magic Mountain theme park, including thrill rides, such as “Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom,” “Green Lantern: First Flight”, “Superman: Escape from Krypton,” “Batman the Ride,” as well as “Tatsu, Apocalypse, The Riddler’s Revenge, and X2.”
Entertainment
At the age of 20, Alexis Jordan already has two #1 Billboard dance hits “Happiness” and “Good Girl”. First seen nationally on America’s Got Talent, she has had her music heard by millions on YouTube, with music from her self-titled album “Alexis Jordan” charting in the top three in the US and six other countries.
Shangela is a multi-talented artist featured as one of OUT Magazine’s Most Compelling People of 2011 and the inaugural winner of the California Entertainer of the Year pageant in 2010. She has been on RuPaul’s Drag Race seasons two and three, as well as Community, Dance Moms, Detroit 1-8-7, The Mentalist, and Toddlers and Tiaras among others. She recently finished taping an appearance on the second episode of the new season of 2 Broke Girls. Her comedy act as LaQuifa has been seen on LOGO and comedy events nationwide.
DJ Ray Rhodes has DJed at a number of high-profile events including TigerHeat (the largest weekly gay event in the Western US), Out on the Mountain, AIDS Project Los Angeles/APLA Summer Parties, West Hollywood Halloween Carnivale, Gay Days Anaheim, and The White Party in Palm Springs. He has DJ’ed at events throughout North America.
Daniel Joseph Baker demonstrated his fierceness on last year’s America’s Got Talent show. The semi-finalist has gone on to perform at events all over the country including the national anthem at a Los Angeles Clippers basketball game earlier this year.
Ingenue, who was recognized as the West Hollywood “Outstanding Drag Diva” 2008 and 2009, hosts TigerHeat and Dreamgirls Revue.
DJ Steve Oaks, otherwise known as DJ SRO, has studied music since the age of four. He performs all over Southern California spinning at the hottest clubs and venues.
Tickets, which include parking, are on sale in advance for $37 at OutontheMountain.com, with gate price of $50. Tickets that include an all-you-cat-dinner buffet in the picnic area from 7-9 p.m. are available for $50. VIP tickets are available for $150 and include a front-of-line wristband, all-you-can-eat dinner, beer and wine drink tickets for those 21 and older, plus $10 in Bugs Bunny bucks, and premium parking.
Hotel accomodations
The host hotel for Out on the Mountain is the Hyatt Regency Valencia, which is offering a special $99 per night rate (which includes up to two free full breakfast buffets per room).
A portion of the proceeds from OutontheMountain.com sales benefit LGBT charities and organizations, including GLAAD, The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Lifeworks, The Center Long Beach, The Center Orange County, Pacific Pride Foundation, API Equality LA, and USC LGBT Resource Center.
