BOSTON – Mayor Thomas Menino has written to Chick-fil-A president, Dan Cathy taking the anti-LGBT fast food chain to task and urging them to back out of their plans to open a location in Boston.
Menino criticizes Cathy for opposing same-sex marriage and for saying that the generation that supports it has an “arrogant attitude.”
Citing Chick-fil-A’s statement that they are now backing out of the same-sex marriage debate, Menino writes, “I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston.”
Menino continued, “I was angry to learn on the heels of your prejudiced statements about your search for a site to locate in Boston. There is no place for discrimination on Boston’s Freedom Trail and no place for your company alongside it. When Massachusetts became the first state in the country to recognize equal marriage rights, I personally stood on City Hall Plaza to greet same-sex couples coming here to be married. It would be an insult to them and to our city’s long history of expanding freedom to have a Chick-fil-A across the street from that spot.”

I agree with you, Bob! Complete arrogance. This whole thing about tolerance has become blown way out of proportion.
A government which tells people what they should say and think is the definition of a facist dictatorship. Perhaps Mayor Menino has forgotten he was elected and what he proposes is unAmerican. We don’t have Chick-fil-A in Boston but we can vote on Mayor Menion in the next election.

This city also has tons of people that do agree with him, and Bob he said “Our City” yes if you live in Boston that is your city. As far as telling people what they should say and think ctmusc, he never said don’t hate, he said “There is no place for discrimination on Boston’s Freedom Trail and no place for your company alongside it.” MIght I add no one ever seemed to complain about the KKK moving out
