San Diego HIV/AIDS advocate, civil rights activist, author and columnist Terry Angel Mason will be a guest speaker for the San Diego Neighborhood House Association’s (NHA) event for HIV Vaccine Awareness Day. The event is hosted in part by the San Diego Urban League.
The function will take place Friday, May 18 at the NHA Social Services Center, located at 841 S. 41st Street in San Diego, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and will include a discussion about HIV/AIDS prevention and a book signing by Mason. All those wishing to attend must R.S.V.P. as seating is limited.
Mason, a graduate of The San Diego Urban League, was declared their “National Success Story” for completing their computer training program successfully. Selected by Real Health Magazine as the advocate of the month and selected as the Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day national spokesperson for 2012, Mason is the Pulitzer Prize-nominated author of Love Won’t Let Me Be Silent. His sophomore literary release, They Say That I Am Broken, is expected to be nominated for similar literary awards.
They Say That I Am Broken, is a book aimed at spreading truth about the dangers and consequences of homophobia, hate and inequality. Mason’s books have touched millions of lives and have been submitted for a Pulitzer Prize and numerous awards, including the Lambda Literary Award and the Stonewall Book Awards. Mason’s books will be available for purchase at the event.
