Tribute To Ray Charles
Ray Charles was truly one of the legendary voices in American music. Ellis Hall, a former protégé of Ray Charles, pays tribute to the master with hits such as “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” “This Little Girl of Mine,” “Hit the Road Jack” and perhaps his most popular, “Georgia On My Mind.” Principal Pops Conductor Marvin Hamlisch leads this rocking, singing, soaring homage to a true American original.

Music for Winds and Percussion
Under the direction of John Winkelman and celebrating their 26th year of performing, The Hillcrest Wind Ensemble (HWE) presents their upcoming concert, Music for Winds and Percussion. From the dramatic “Jericho” and “American Salute” by Morton Gould and “Trittic” by Valclav Nelhybel to the rollicking “Flute Rag” for flute trio, this will be an evening of music written exclusively for wind ensemble and concert band. The concert will also feature the winning compositions from HWE’s 2011/12 international Call for Scores composition contest.

Madness
Madness was one of the leading bands of the ska revival of the late ’70s and early ’80s. As their career progressed, Madness branched away from their trademark “nutty sound” and incorporated large elements of Motown, soul, and British pop. The band enjoyed a crossover American hit in 1983 with “Our House” and remained a British phenomenon, becoming one of the most beloved groups the country produced during the ’80s.
