The San Diego Zoo Global’s national spokesperson, Rick Schwartz, and a group of animals practiced the opening ceremony for Play Days Wednesday. In a session that included a few mis-squawks, laughter and a lot of fun, the team prepared for an opening ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 31. The opening will kick off 16 days of play at the San Diego Zoo.
Just like kids, animals love to play. During the San Diego Zoo‘s Play Days, March 31- April 15, visitors can watch primates pucker up for popsicles, boisterous bears bat balls, and meerkats munch a bunch of crunchy crickets. Zoo animals will be sprinting and sliding, somersaulting and swinging as keepers provide commentary and tip-offs about the frolickers during all play times.
The 100-acre San Diego Zoo is dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and their habitats. The organization focuses on conservation and research work around the globe, educates millions of individuals a year about wildlife and maintains accredited horticultural, animal, library and photo collections.
