Marriage Equality USA has applauded the state for its commitment to uphold human rights as it applies to all New Hampshire residents regardless of sexual orientation.

New Hampshire lived up to the state motto of ‘Live Free or Die’ today, by ensuring the freedom to marry for all loving, committed couples,” said Stuart Gaffney, Marriage Equality USA Media Director.

“Happily married couples shouldn’t be used as a political football in an election year. Today’s vote in New Hampshire says loud and clear, that the freedom to marry is here to stay,” said John Lewis, Marriage Equality USA Legal Director.

“Our leaders always face a decision regarding which side of history they want to stand on whenever civil rights are debated. New Hampshire legislators made a clear decision today to stand on the right side of history,” concluded Gaffney.
