This week there is a plethora of opening receptions at some of San Diego’s smaller, independent and LGBT-owned or oriented galleries. Here’s a chance to support the arts and local businesses simultaneously!

Noel-Baza Fine Art

Three Artists Paint the City features paintings and works on paper by Wade Cline, Kim Reasor and Brad Maxey. The subject uniting these three artists is an exploration of San Diego’s urban environment, with each having their own unique approach.

Opening reception in conjunction with Kettner Nights is Friday, March 9, 6-9 p.m. March 8 – April 29.

Art Produce

Art Produce presents the work of Lois Stecker, a San Diego-based painter and photographer who passed away last September at the age of 92. For more than four decades Stecker attended virtually every art opening in town, and always brought along her camera to photograph art and artists. As a result Lois left behind her many thousands of photos … far more than her family knew what to do with.

This show is an interactive potlatch; thousands of Lois’ photos will be spread out on tables in the gallery. You’ll be able to browse through the photo pile, and if you see any photos you like, you’ll be able to take them home with you.

Opening reception March 10, 6-9 p.m. plus an interactive music performance in the Art Produce garden. March 10 – April 8.

Art of Pride

Each month Art of Pride features an artist and during the month of March that honor goes to artist Devon Browning. She will be showing her work, mostly paintings and illustrations beginning with a kick-off reception. Join Devon at the Pride Gallery three blocks south of University Avenue on 30th Street in North Park. There will be a big light-up “art” sign out in front of the building.

Reception is Saturday, March 10, from 6:30-8 p.m.
