Young Professionals Council launches YPC Academy

Become a charter member of the Academy that will launch the next generation of LGBT leaders!

Young Professionals Council (YPC) is a program of The Center for young professionals, ages 21-40. It is designed to provide opportunities for leadership training and conversations with LGBT and allied social justice leaders, networking with like-minded peers and having a great time. The YPC Academy offers leadership training for LGBT and allied equality leaders consisting of six weekend courses March 31-June 9, 2012. Each course will be a full day of training and discussion focusing on a specific area of leadership development. The Academy encourages participation in a variety of agencies, not-for-profit organizations and government commissions, and will work with graduates to assist them in obtaining placements.

If you are interested in applying please submit your resume and a 400-word essay on why you would like to participate in this exciting new program. In order to qualify to apply, you must be a YPC member in good standing, which means that you participate in the, “I Belong” program and attend meetings regularly, and between the ages of 21-40. If you know of someone that might be interested in the Academy and is not a YPC member, please feel free to nominate them and have them go through the application process too. The deadline to submit your materials is Friday, March 16, 2012 by 5:00 pm.

Please submit your materials or nominations to Denise Serrano via email at dserrano@thecentersd.org. The YPC Academy Selection Committee will announce the new class on Monday, March 19, so hurry and get your application submitted!

Academy Schedule: March 31, April 14, April 28, May 12, May 26 and June 9.

All sessions with the exception of one will be held at The Center and will take place on Saturdays, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
